Early Warning Signs
Drastic swing in mood, form really high highs to really low lows.
Or, feeling sad and down for a prolonged period of time.
No longer joining in social gatherings/withdrawing from social activities or time with friends.
Trouble sleeping, low energy, and increased tiredness.
Supporting Others
Be a safe person to talk to.
Don’t try to diagnose their feelings and listen carefully.
Don’t push them to share – let them say as much or as little as they want.
Remind people that you care.
Know the limits of the help you can provide, and offer to help them in seeking further support or resources.
Supporting Yourself
Take time to practice self care and do the things you enjoy
Go for a walk, catch up with a friend, read a book.
Don’t add too much to your plate.
Get plenty of sleep.
Establish boundaries and know it’s okay to say “no.”
