Being told you never do anything right, being belittled, or receiving insults and or threats.
Being prevented or discouraged from spending time with family, friends, peers, or in doing hobbies that you enjoy.
Intimidation by threats, weapons, or destruction of property.
Pressure to do something illegal, sexual, or something against your values or beliefs.
Supporting Others
Listen and offer a supportive and unbiased perspective.
Abuse is isolating – make sure they don’t feel judged, but that they have a safe person to talk to.
In dangerous cases, encourage them to explore therapy and offer to go with them to the local crisis center.
